Hello

It's Sam from SB Creatives Photography here...

Recently, I had the honour of being the photographer for the United for Love event, a gathering dedicated to showing solidarity and love for the Jewish people and Israel in the face of rising hate. As a photographer, I often find myself documenting significant moments in time, but this event felt particularly poignant. It wasn’t just about speeches or performances – it was about community, strength, and resilience.

The United for Love event was created as a powerful response to the recent surge in antisemitism and hostility that has affected Jewish communities worldwide. In Sydney, we came together to stand united, not only as Jews but alongside people from various walks of life. Witnessing individuals and groups from different backgrounds come forward to express their support made it evident that love and compassion can triumph over hate.

From behind the lens, I could feel the emotion in the room. Families, friends, and strangers alike stood side by side, their expressions filled with hope, strength, and a sense of purpose. It’s moments like these where the true essence of an event shines through, and as a photographer, I aimed to capture that unspoken unity.

Photography at events like these goes beyond simply capturing faces; it’s about freezing powerful moments in time, creating lasting memories that reflect the essence of the day. I focused on the candid interactions – hands held in support, eyes filled with tears and determination, and the genuine connections shared between those who attended. These images are more than photographs; they are symbols of solidarity, resilience, and love in the face of adversity.

One of the most touching scenes I captured was a group of children holding signs with messages of peace, their innocent faces filled with hope for a brighter future. In that moment, I felt the weight of what this event represented: the fight against hate, not just for today but for the generations to come.

As a photographer deeply embedded in Sydney’s Jewish community, being a part of this event was especially meaningful. I have had the privilege of documenting Bar and Batmitzvahs, family celebrations, and other significant moments within this community, but this felt different. This wasn’t just a celebration – it was a stand against the growing darkness of hate, a message that we will not be silenced.

United for Love was a reminder that no matter how much division exists in the world, there are still spaces for unity, for standing up against hate, and for building a future where love prevails.

I left the event with a profound sense of hope and gratitude. It was an inspiring reminder that we can find strength in solidarity, even in challenging times. As a photographer, my job is to capture moments, but it’s events like these that remind me how powerful those moments can be. The images from United for Love will remain as a visual testament to the love and unity that was shared that day, serving as a reminder that we stand together against hate.

This experience further deepened my appreciation for the role photography plays in creating and preserving history, and I’m proud to have been part of such an important event.

Until Next Time...
